Freelance Writer, Blogger, Independent Researcher, Bookworm, Mother – these are a few of the hats I wear. ‘A Wandering Mind’ was born from the desire to share my thoughts – about my experiences, whether it is travel, events or books.
In these pages, you will find travelogues, from my travels across India. There are a variety of places I have written about, from pilgrimages and ancient temples to beaches and homestays. You will also find my thoughts about books, since I am a voracious reader, and read anything I come across. In the past few years, my interests have focused on Heritage, Iconography and Indian Philosophy, so that is something you can expect to read about.

My Story
Born in Delhi, brought up in Mumbai; dreamt of becoming a physicist, ended up become a mother, a freelance writer, a traveller, and homemaker (among other things). My life has taken many twists and turns, each of which has contributed to me becoming the person I am today.
Travel has always been a part of my life. Once, it meant school vacations spent with my uncles and aunts, and exploring the cities they lived in, with them. But my explorations truly began with my in-laws, who loved to travel, though primarily to temples. My mother-in-law is a walking encyclopedia of temples, and she is hugely responsible for my interest in temples today.
This blog was born in 2007, out of an itch to do something with the time I had, a new computer in the house which opened up a new world to me, and a desire to share my thoughts with the world at large. Two decades down the line, I find myself just as excited to write, as I felt then, though a lot more has changed since then.
The blog began as a means to document my travel experiences, but it soon changed the way I travelled, and the way I wrote. I realized that I love planning trips as I much as I love the travel itself. From just enjoying places, I began to see them differently, developing an interest in architecture, iconography and heritage.
Above all, the blog, and the travel, together rekindled an interest in academics, which I thought had died years ago. I went back to study, first doing a course in Indian Aesthetics at Jnanapravaha Mumbai, then a Certificate course in Ancient Indian Culture at the Asiatic Society of Mumbai, and finally an MA in Philosophy at Mumbai University.
This year, the blog will complete 19 years. So much has changed. Yet, so much remains the same - above all, my enthusiasm for writing. The desire to share my stories is as strong as ever, and the satisfaction from writing is just as deep. I am eager to see what lies ahead, in the coming years...

The Path Ahead...
Life is unpredictable, and if this past year has taught me anything, it is that we must live in the moment. There is lots I still want to do, many places I want to visit, and pages I want to write.
I am open to collaborations. In the past, I have worked with Narendra Bhavan, Suryagarh, Neemrana, Chhatisgarh Tourism Board, Pugdundee Safaris, Sterling Hotels and Resorts,Thomas Cook and Club Mahindra, to name a few brands. I am open to collaborations again, provided the opportunities are interesting.
A Wandering Mind is about stories, and the beauty of a story lies in the details. In the coming months and (hopefully) years, these details are what I plan to focus on. While I shall continue to write about books, wildlife, nature, and a whole lot of topics, I shall try to write more about heritage, and help you understand our rich heritage better.
I truly believe that India's diversity is its strength, be it biodiversity, or cultural diversity. Over the past 50 years, as I have travelled across the length and breadth of India, I am still amazed by how much there is to see and appreciate. And this is what I shall try to bring alive through my stories.
