Odisha Part 6: The Yogini Temple of Hirapur

I fell in love with this temple the first time I set eyes on it. Back in 2017 , I had been excited to see yet another Yogini temple, when I visited Puri. The resort I was staying at (and writing for), had arranged for a car and driver to take me around. The driver was happy to take me to most of the places I wanted to go, but when it came to Hirapur, he was appalled. He knew of the temple, but had never been there. It was a tantric temple, one not visited by women, and certainly not women travelling alone. He tried to convince me not to go, but my stubbornness and persistence paid off, and he reluctantly agreed when I told him that if he didn’t take me, I would find another driver who would. All along the way, he kept going on about the sinister things that happened at the temple, the tantric rituals that were performed at night…. Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur

The Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur is the oldest museum in the state of Rajasthan. Located picturesquely in a garden just outside the walls of the old city, it is impossible to miss or ignore.





The building was originally intended to be the town hall, but it was later decided to house the museum. We were unable to enjoy the museum from inside thanks to lack of time, but it looked so beautiful that we were unable to resist stopping to click some pics!



And the multitudes of pigeons ensured that we got some amazing ones!!

      Thanks Mridula!! yeah, i read about the Mummy, which is why i actually went ahead and bought a combined ticket which included entry to this one too... but as it turned out, i wasnt able to visit.. anyway, this was just an off the cuff jaipur trip.. and we missed a lot.. will definitely go again!

    The architecture is really soothing. Beautiful shots. We were also there but could not get inside as that was closed that day. The area is pretty clean and princely.

We continued our Gokarna trip by visiting four other Shiva temples in the vicinity, all connected to the same story of Gokarna. The story of Gokarna mentions the Mahabaleshwara Lingam as the one brought from Kailas by Ravana, and kept at this place on the ground by Ganesha. Newasa - Encountering an unique form of Vishnu, and Sant Jnaneshwar

The year was 1290 . A crowd had gathered around a clearing, where broken down pillars marked the presence of an ancient temple, now long gone. Review of Executive Lounges at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS)

During my recent trip to Uttarakhand , I was faced with a problem I had never encountered before. We were passing through Delhi, but we had hardly any time in the city. On earlier visits when I have had to change trains/flights at Delhi, I have always arrived in the morning and left again at night, visiting relatives in between. This time, I was arriving in the city at night, and leaving again early in the morning. There was hardly any time to visit people. I would only have a couple of hours with them before I’d have to leave again.
