Odisha Part 6: The Yogini Temple of Hirapur

I fell in love with this temple the first time I set eyes on it. Back in 2017 , I had been excited to see yet another Yogini temple, when I visited Puri. The resort I was staying at (and writing for), had arranged for a car and driver to take me around. The driver was happy to take me to most of the places I wanted to go, but when it came to Hirapur, he was appalled. He knew of the temple, but had never been there. It was a tantric temple, one not visited by women, and certainly not women travelling alone. He tried to convince me not to go, but my stubbornness and persistence paid off, and he reluctantly agreed when I told him that if he didn’t take me, I would find another driver who would. A performance by the Parakeets.....

Do you remember going to the circus and seeing birds performing feats? They gave the gymnasts and athletes a run for their money, didn't they? Yesterday morning, a group of parakeets put up a show right outside my window... Take a look at their antics....

    Brilliant! This is so beautiful that I am surprised people kept these rose-ringed parakeets in captivity in yesteryears.

    After watching this show I am curious to know as to what they found so interesting under the street light :-)

    @Shyamgovind: thanks... but i took pics for barely 15-20 minutes! they had already been there for a while before I could get my camera and start.... but they were just too fascinating to watch. so the question of patience didnt arise at all!

We continued our Gokarna trip by visiting four other Shiva temples in the vicinity, all connected to the same story of Gokarna. Review of Executive Lounges at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS)

During my recent trip to Uttarakhand , I was faced with a problem I had never encountered before. We were passing through Delhi, but we had hardly any time in the city. On earlier visits when I have had to change trains/flights at Delhi, I have always arrived in the morning and left again at night, visiting relatives in between. This time, I was arriving in the city at night, and leaving again early in the morning. There was hardly any time to visit people.
