My first trip to Vaishnodevi was unimpressive. Climbing was hard, and it only served to highlight how badly out of shape I was, while my in-laws managed to cope so much better. Further, I hadn’t quite realized that the cave experience wouldn’t be the same as I had imagined, since the original cave was only opened at certain times a year, and that we only entered a newly created tunnel, one far easier to access, and hence more manageable with the crowds that thronged the mountain shrine. The resulting experience at the shrine, for barely a fraction of a second, hardly compared to what I had expected / imagined / heard about. So, for me, Vaishnodevi was like any other temple, nothing to write home about, something that was reflected (though not explicitly mentioned) in the blog post I wrote then.
Clouds have always fascinated me... from searching for shapes in their formations to eagerly looking forward to cloudy skies during flights. Which is why I am sharing these images today...
I clicked these on the flight from Mumbai to Jodhpur, when I visited Suryagarh in August...
Looking them over now makes me want to fly off again, on another trip! There are a couple of personal trips looming though, which brightens my day!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Hans! They were absolutely irresistible to click!
DeleteThese are wonderful! I especially love the first two - it's a surreal and beautiful landscape - uh, skyscape - above the clouds, isn't it? (And how do you manage to get airline seats with such clean windows?!!) :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Laloofah! I was lucky this time to get a seat with a decently clean window... Plus, these are from my camera, which is why the quality is good.. with my mob camera, i could only see the dirt!!
